prayer

Prayer Principles Bible Marking is our fourteenth Study. This week’s topic covers the Scriptures that talk about all of the Prayer Principles Bible Marking Texts. Every thing about the way Jesus Christ prayed according to the Holy Bible is a model for us.

Prayer Principles Bible MarkingBible Marking allows you do studies right out of your Bible with another person seeking the truth. Highlighting scripture will make sharing the studies simpler. Colored pencils work best because they will allow you to highlight texts without having magic marker ink bleeding through your pages.

I found it best to just draw a thin line under the verse with the color you selected for that Bible Topic. Some verses will be in several Topics so being creative is important.

There will be weekly updates on my blog here as I attend Sabbath School each week at the Seventh-day Adventist Community Church of Vancouver, Washington.

Pastor Roger Walter is the lead Pastor and he is working with Pastor Ryan Whitehead to take the church through scripture study each Sabbath morning. Marking classes are very important after Evangelism meetings as people sometimes can be overwhelmed from learning so much truth in just a short amount of time.

Prayer Principles Bible MarkingThe Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church is a movement to get people back into Scripture. When we study Scripture, we are doing what Jesus did. Having the word in our hearts is paramount in the times we now live in.

Instructions:
1. Choose a color to mark for the topic
2. Make a color mark in the back of a blank page
3. Beside the color mark, write the first scripture & page number
4. Turn to that first scripture. Highlight it with the color you have chosen
5. In the margin beside that scripture, put the next scripture reference & its page number
6. Repeat until the last scripture
7. Write the word “End” in the margin so you know there are no more scriptures

Example:

The Second Coming use a Blue Pencil

The Sabbath use a Red Pencil

Signs of the Second Coming use a Green Pencil

Prayer use a Purple Pencil

Example of SOAP

SOAPScripture: “What I tell in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear proclaim upon the housetops. Matthew 10:27

Observation: If I am not hearing Him in the darkness, what will I speak in the light? If I am not hearing Him whisper in my ear, what will I proclaim on the housetops?

Application: What a great word! This scripture reminds me to not only talk to God in prayer, but equally important is to hear Hime in prayer!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me to hear You today! I want to be still that I may hear Your Marching Orders for my day, for my week, for my life. Speak Lord! Your servant is listening!

Prayer Principles Bible Marking Conclusion

I will update the blog with the next Bible Marking Class lesson next Sabbath. After reviewing the 14 texts about the Prayer Principles Bible Marking, we clearly see that Jesus spent much time in prayer. We can communicate with God all through the day by praying and listening to the Holy Spirit.

Daniel Parsons Ministry You Tube Channel

Welcome to the When We Pray God Works post. This post contains the sermon given by Tammara Daniel at Riverside Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church in Washougal, Washington on Sabbath, 1 February 2020.

Tammara leads the Prayer Ministry at the Riverside Church. Our church has developed small group ministries to help disciple current members and make the church a place for people searching for hope and truth can come. Tammara shared her testimony with the church.

When We Pray God Works

Turn in your Bibles to the Gospel of Matthew.

Matthew 24:14

This gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Now turn to Ephesians 3:20.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us.

When We Pray, God Works. God Moves Heaven to minister to His Children.

When We Pray God Works

Now turn to Psalms 91.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the hunter
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
    and under His wings you shall find protection;
His faithfulness shall be your shield and wall.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
    nor of the arrow that flies by day;
nor of the pestilence that pursues in darkness,
nor of the destruction that strikes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side
and ten thousand at your right hand,
but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you behold
and see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
even the Most High, your dwelling,
10 there shall be no evil befall you,
    neither shall any plague come near your tent;
11 for He shall give His angels charge over you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 They shall bear you up in their hands,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and adder;
the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
and I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him My salvation.

Now turn to John 10:27-29.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them from My Father’s hand.

One of the first evangelists was the Samaritan woman at the well. She knew that she had met a prophet after talking with Jesus. She evangelized her whole town right away.

Now turn to John 4:39.

Many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.”

Prayer Works

Tammara felt God’s call to the Seventh-day Adventist church because she wanted to follow the Bible. She had grown up in another Christian denomination.

When We Pray God Works

For many years, Tammara’s heart longed for her father to accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Tammara kept praying even when her father was not responding. As her father grew older, Tammara kept praying. One day her father asked her to study the Bible. He finally accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

Tammara prays for every student that attends Riverside Christian school and for every member that attends the church on Thursdays.

Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger

Welcome to my Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger post. Roger Walter is the Lead Pastor at Adventist Community Church of Vancouver, Washington. He gave this message on Sabbath, 9 February 2019.

Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger

Pastor Roger and his family moved to Colorado and bought a house. The neighbors moved in from Alaska to the property next to them the following year. The neighbors had a horse and one day the horse got loose from the fenced area on the property. Roger knew that animals have a nature that will take advantage of your fear and Roger knew he would have to approach the horse without fear. He was able to do that and guide the horse back into the fenced in area on the neighbors’ property.

Horses are smart animals and can communicate with people. A horse will follow a human around. Roger shared that he feels when he is praying to God, it is like communication between a horse and a human being.

Scripture Verses

Philippians 4:4-6

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

The Church Is About Connecting with Jesus.

Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger

Church is NOT About:

  • Building
  • The Clothes You Wear
  • Music
  • Programs
  • Religion

Growth of the Church

A key point of Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger is how the early church grew when the Disciples and Apostles went out spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thousands were added to the church in one day through the power of the Holy Spirit.

ACTS is a Book In the Bible. It Stands for the Acts of the Apostles. Here is a useful Acronym for ACTS.

Adoration

Confession

Thanksgiving

Supplication ( Requests )

Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger

Every week, our worship includes a corporate prayer time where we come together. Each week, someone is struggling with family problems, money problems, family members problems, or health problems.

It takes 80 to 100 hours of spending time with someone to become a friend. It takes 120 to 200 hours to become best friends. Roger admits he has struggled spending time with God in prayer. Roger became best friends with God right away through prayer. He asked God to help him spend more time in prayer and in Bible Study.

Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger

Roger shared that the Bible came alive to him by spending time in prayer and Bible Study. Are you hurting now? Are there problems in your life?

Cry out to God and just say: “Help Me”. Roger shared about how grateful he is that Jesus holds us during our struggles.

Roger asked the Pastors and Elders to come forward for an Anointing Service and Prayer. He called for anyone that needed an Anointing and Prayer to come forward. I went down myself as I have a chronic health challenge in addition to some other issues. I was anointed and prayed over by Pastor John Bryson.

Many other people came forward and received anointing and prayer also.

Casting Out Demons

Mark 9:28-29

When He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”

So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Why could the Disciples not cast out the demons? It is all about the connection with the Father. Roger has pleaded with God about some requests or supplications and Roger heard God answer NO. Roger did not like that answer. One specific prayer Roger has asked for over 7 years and so far Roger has not received an answer.

You can be a Christian all by yourself but being isolated is not the way God designed worship.

Closing Prayer in the Prayer Sermon By Pastor Roger is:

Father God, We pray that you will Baptize us in the Holy Spirit. We pray that we will walk in that spirit, In Jesus Name Amen.

Healing of the Blind Man

Healing of the Blind Man is the story from Mark 8 where Jesus went into enemy territory & healed the man in 2 steps. Jesus wants us to see Him Clearly. These are the sermon notes from Elder Paul Ybarra when he preached this sermon at Riverside Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church on Sabbath 26 January 2019.

Healing of the Blind Man

Mark 8:22-26 New King James Version (NKJV)
A Blind Man Healed at Bethsaida

22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. 23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

24 And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. 26 Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”

Jesus Used Two Steps to Heal the Blind Man

Jesus had gone to Bethsaida. In the Gospels of Matthew, Luke and John, Jesus had cursed Bethsaida. Jesus had gone into enemy territory. The Religious Elite were scheming to trap Jesus. Jesus went there because HE knew that the blind man had the faith of a mustard seed.

Healing of the Blind Man

When you study the Gospels, you see that most people had heard of Jesus. News of the Rabbi and the healing miracles HE accomplished traveled fast in the early first century without the internet. In the passage in Mark 8 verse 23, Jesus led the blind man by hand out of town and healed him.

Jesus spat on the blind man’s eyes. Spitting then and even today is an insult. In Mark 7:31-37, Jesus spat on a deaf man’s ears.

Turning back to Mark 8, in verse 24 Jesus asks the blind man what he sees after having spat on his eyes. The blind man replied that he saw men like trees walking around.

Jesus then put His Hands on the blind man’s eyes again and made him look up. Suddenly the blind man was restored and saw everyone clearly.

Jesus sent the healed blind man away and told him not to tell anyone. It is hard for a human being that has witnessed an incredible healing to keep their mouth shut. Our nature is to share good news.

Deeper Meaning to Healing the Blind Man

Besides the physical healing of the blind man’s eyes, there is a much deeper lesson Jesus is teaching here. Jesus wants us to see Him clearly. Jesus wants us to understand who HE is. Jesus went to the Cross to die the death that we deserve because of our sins. HE did that so that we do not have to die a second time. HE wants to be our Savior. Jesus is the bridge back to God the Creator. The most famous verse in the Bible reveals that in John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Healing of the Blind Man

In Mark 1 verse 44, Jesus had healed a leper. Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Jesus healed people’s physical problems more than HE preached. God wants us to be healthy. When a person’s physical needs are met, then they are ready to better understand spiritual teachings.

Takeaway from Mark 8 Healing of the Blind Man

  • Read Your Bible
  • Ask God to Reveal the Deep Meaning of the Scriptures to You
  • Ask God to Guide You Daily

A Prayer of Confession

Let us pray,
Lord God, we come to You to say that we are sorry
Because we do not always behave
Like those who belong to You.
We set our hearts & minds on things in the world,
Instead of putting pleasing You first. Help us to put you first, always ! Amen
JesusHere are four simple steps to begin walking with the Lord Jesus Christ !
1. Acknowledge My Sin
Romans 3:23
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
2. Faith
Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
3. Confess
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
4. Accept
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Prayer helps develop our relationship with God. I have learned to be in prayer all through the day now to help me in this world that we live in.

Are You Ready?

Sermon Notes from Ed Reid’s message given on 26 June 2014 at Washington Camp Meeting.

Seven Ways to Be Ready for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

2 Peter 3:11-14

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,  12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?  13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Be Steadfast

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.

2 Peter 3:17-18

You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;  18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Our Objective Is to Grow in Grace

1. Spend Time Every Day in God’s Word ( Bible )
2. Set Aside Time Every Day for Prayer
3. Be Financially Faithful with God ( Returning Tithe )
4. Share Your Faith ( Witness )
5. Seek the Will of God & Follow It
6. Support God’s Church ( Warts & All ) Jesus Loves His Church
7. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s Power In Your Life
a. To Transform Us & Fit Us for the Kingdom
b. To Equip Us to Better Share the Gospel
c. To Prepare Us for the Days Ahead
