Promises
Promises you can live by are found in the Holy Bible. Elder Joe McWilliam asked the congregation to come forward and read favorite Bible promises at church this past Sabbath, 27 February 2016 at Whipple Creek Seventh-day Adventist Christian church. The Bible study was very informative as the word of God is powerful and impacts peoples’ lives.
Here is the list of what the congregation read. I am reading the New American Standard Bible. If one of the scriptures is long like the whole chapter, I am including a link to that chapter.
Isaiah 48:14-16
“Assemble, all of you, and listen!
Who among them has declared these things?
The Lord loves him; he will carry out His good pleasure on Babylon,
And His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
“I, even I, have spoken; indeed I have called him,
I have brought him, and He will make his ways successful.
“Come near to Me, listen to this:
From the first I have not spoken in secret,
From the time it took place, I was there.
And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.”
Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
Psalms 137:3-4
For there our captors demanded of us songs,
And our tormentors mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”
4
How can we sing the Lord’s song
In a foreign land?
Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior.
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
1 Chronicles 28:20
Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
Jeremiah 29:11
‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope’.
Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
7
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.
Colossians 1:16-21
For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds,
Romans 8:28
We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
3

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I have given Egypt as your ransom,
Cush and Seba in your place.
Isaiah 26:1-4
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.

Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.
29
He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
30
Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Psalms 34:7
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.
Hebrews 1:1-3
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.
These are the Bible promises that Joe had the young adults read during worship service:
