Bring back the America that I knew when I was growing up in the 1960’s. I was a student at Chadwell Elementary School in Madison, Tennessee. I started writing this post in 2015. Today is 19 January 2021 and most of the world has lost respect for fellow human beings, society as a whole and of course government at all levels.
Bring Back the America That I Knew
Believe it or not, this is how life was in the 1960’s. God, please Bring Back the America That I Knew.
1. Prayer was allowed in school.
2. We walked almost 2 miles each way to school. There were no overweight children.
3. We wore appropriate clothes in the appropriate way & did not have tattoos covering our body.
4. We said Yes, Mrs. Bucy or Yes, Mr. Almond and respected authority.
5. We said the Pledge of Allegiance each morning to our Flag without worrying about the ACLU bringing up a lawsuit about: “One Nation, Under God”.
6. If we got in trouble, we met the Board of Education ( PADDLE ) after a review of why we were sitting in the Principal’s Office. I had to bend over & meet that Board one time & I learned my lesson never to return to meet the Board of Education again.
7. We ate home cooked meals at the table with the entire family & said a Blessing before we ate what God had provided.
8. We carried our Bibles to church.
9. In the Congress of the United States, Republicans and Democrats respected each other. Negotiations were common in getting the laws of the land passed.
10. When a neighbor was in need, the community came together to help. This still happens in some communities but we also see many signs of man being a lover of himself and only being concerned about himself.
