The Seventh-day Adventist church is active in 209 of the 232 recognized nations of the United Nations.

Some people think the church is just a mega church in California. There are more than 18 million baptized members of the church around the world. The church is growing rapidly in Africa, Asia, and South America. Over one million people are getting baptized each year as of 2012.

The church formed in 1863 as Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians and other protestants met to study the scriptures.
