GMO Foods and Your Health

GMO Foods and Your Health

Welcome to my post about GMO Foods and Your Health. In 2012, California Proposition 37 Was About the Genetically Engineered Foods Labeling Initiative Statute. Germany seeks ban on GMO foods to keep these foods out of their nation.

  • Requires labeling on raw or processed food offered for sale to consumers if made from plants or animals with genetic material changed in specified ways.
  • Prohibits labeling or advertising such food, or other processed food, as “natural”.
  • Exempts foods that are: certified organic; unintentionally produced with genetically engineered material; made from animals fed or injected with genetically engineered material but not genetically engineered themselves; processed with or containing only small amounts of genetically engineered ingredients; administered for treatment of medical conditions; sold for immediate consumption such as in a restaurant; or alcoholic beverages.

GMO Foods and Your HealthA brief background on GMO foods shows that research began back in the 1940’s on how to increase yield on crops in the farmers fields.

Research continued and the first GMO foods were grown in California and sold to the public in the 1990’s.

There has been a rapid increase in the number of people with allergies to foods in the past 20 years.

Did  you know that 70 percent of the processed foods available in the supermarkets of America are genetically modified organisms?

The percent of GMO crops grown in the United States is now around 68 percent. GMO Foods and Your Health should be a high priority for our Food and Drug Administration. Corporate greed is not conducive to good public health when it comes to the food supply.

America has seen an epidemic of diabetes, heart disease, obesity and many other illnesses since 1990.

Why Voting Yes on 37 Is the Right Thing to Do

GMO Foods and Your HealthOur food supply and plants were designed to give us nutrition. When the organisms are altered by big corporate chemical interests, the food is no longer in its original form. Our body was not designed by our Creator to take in genetically modified organisms. Take action this November and vote Yes on 37. Your Yes vote will send a message to the big corporations that your health and your children’s health is more important than increased profits from GMO foods.

Think about this argument that people that are against Prop 37 talk about. I listened to one woman exclaim that GMO is good for feeding all the people on the earth that need food to survive. Yes, there are 7 billion people on the earth.

GMO Foods and Your HealthIf one third of the land that is now being used to raise cows and cattle for beef was converted to farmland that grew plants and fruits, there would be enough food on the earth to feed 20 billion people.

Animal products provide the human body with SECOND HAND nutrition. The life force energy that our body needs is in the fruits and vegetables. Nature and our Creator have the perfect source for human nutrition. Vote Yes on Prop 37 and let us take back our food supply!

The importance of eating organic is often overlooked, and that results in poor health in most people. Genetically modified things might be a bit more efficient, but does that make them better for the consumers? This was something great to think about, and I will be voting Yes. (:

    • Hello Emilia,
You are the second person from overseas that has stated they will vote yes on California Prop 37. Do you have a similar measure before the voters there in Australia?

  • Ashley

I have a friend that lives in California and I totally support this Prop 37. I think its disgusting how this is even allowed to be okay for people to consume but I understand its a business. I personally eat organic and I think it’s the best way to go to be healthy.

    • Hello Ashley,
We are being bombarded by big corporations say no to Prop 37 ads on the tv, radio and internet out here. It will be interesting what the voters say. One thing I don’t understand is last year there was a ballot initiative to increase taxes on tobacco products and that measure barely failed 50.1 percent against and 49.9 for the measure. The percentage of smokers is around 20 percent so that means 30 percent of the voters that don’t smoke voted that measure down. If they lived in my apartment where other smokers second hand smoke blows in, I wonder if there vote would have been different?
